Bengrove Market Garden is located in Wraxall, near Castle Cary and Shepton Mallet, Somerset. We grow on the land but also source a wide variety of vegetables and fruit for sale to the local community. All of our produce is sold within a 10 mile radius of the garden, either through our veg box scheme, or through our regular market stall at Castle Cary on Tuesday. We also top up our range by buying in from other organic farms, local and further afield. We like to grow a lot of heritage and unusual varieties of vegetable to offer our customers something a bit different as well as the firm favourites and everyday staples. We believe in creating local food networks that both create and support communities.
Conservation & Wildlife
Bengrove Market Garden is part of a 12-acre smallholding which has, in the midst of fields bereft of natural habitat, become a welcome haven for wildlife. We believe in working with nature, without chemicals, GM and mono-cultures. As much a conservation project as the growing of food, we are bringing together a number of mutually supportive elements on this beautiful 12-acre site. A small woodland area is being established to encourage biodiversity, and the rotating raised beds system is centred around a large pond. The garden is supervised by Liam Wood and Louise Coombes, both past Soil Association apprentices. All produce is grown according to organic principles.
